Last weekend we took a short trip to Poprad in northern Slovakia. The city has much to offer when you into winter sports or if your idea for the weekend is to spend your time in Aquacity. Well, our plan was different. When you type ‘Poprad’ in Google image search one of the first results you’ll get is the stock image of the high rise housing estate remembering socialist times with snowy Tatra Mountains in the background. And that was it. We wanted photos of high rises and High Tatras. Juh III housing estate in the southern part of Poprad was built in the early 1980s to answer the rapid growth of the city’s population. Here you can find some archive photos showing construction works (text in Slovak) –> link
Unfortunately it was quite cloudy to capture the white peaks above the estate. But maybe next time.
